At Lüstro Eyeworks Optometry we carry a large selection of trial contact lens brands and modalities, including daily disposables, monthlies, colors, multi focals and torics. In most cases, the optometrist will be able to fit you into a set to wear home at your initial visit. We welcome new contact lens wearers; our staff is very thorough in the training process.

Our optometrists will explain the purpose of your glasses’ prescription and when they should be worn. In the majority of cases, glasses will not cause any decreased vision that would not otherwise occur. However, wearing glasses for activities other than what is recommended (i.e. distance glasses worn to read up close) may make the eyes work harder than necessary.
Laser eye surgery is used to correct cases of myopia (blurred distance vision), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. Presbyopia, which causes the need to wear reading glasses or bifocals, cannot be corrected by laser surgery. As a result, individuals over 45 years will require reading glasses in most cases following surgery. Amblyopia (lazy eye) or other existing conditions that have caused damage to the eye or loss of vision, cannot be repaired by laser surgery.

We recommend the first exam at 1 year old, then 3 years, then before entering school. Depending on the individual, sometimes more frequently. It is important that we detect high prescriptions, eye turns, lazy eyes, and diseases as early as possible to avoid potential irreversible vision loss.

However, many disorders have no symptoms. All children should have an eye exam at age 3.

Dilation is a procedure where drops are instilled in the eyes to make the pupil larger so the doctor can look through it with a special magnifying lens to check for diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma or diabetic eye disease. It can cause blurred vision at near and increased light sensitivity for a few hours after.
